Charter documentation
Guides for configuring and operating Charter.
Getting started
- What Charter does — Define a change process once and apply it consistently across every project in a collection.
- Installing Charter — Install from the Marketplace, find the hub, and check you have the right permissions.
- Your first change — Apply one small change end to end, so the confirmation, snapshot and preview are familiar before you need them.
Configuration
- Configuring work item types — Fields, states, rules and form layout, applied across any number of inherited processes.
- Environment and service connection checks — Approvals, branch control, business hours, exclusive locks and the rest, applied across projects.
- Webhooks — Service hook subscriptions applied consistently across projects.
Operations
- Applying changes — The blast radius, the snapshot, the apply preview, and what happens when a write fails.
- Import and export — Move a configuration between collections, keep it in version control, or hand it to support.
Licensing
- The trial — Fourteen days, everything unlocked, starting when you first open the License tab.
- Online subscriptions — Subscribe, receive a key by email, and activate it against one organisation.
- Buying by invoice — For organisations that need a purchase order. Keys are issued against your organisation ID.
- Activation problems — What each refusal means and how to clear it.
